A guideline has been drawn up for this: The European Single-use plastic guideline (SUP). The balloons supplied by Wisa Enschede are biodegradable and can be disposed of with normal waste.

NVWA balloon research
In the period 2017/2018, the dutch NVWA once again conducted research into the safety of balloons that are brought onto the market in the Netherlands. Of the 58 balloon studies, it appeared that in no fewer than 16 species the labeling was (partially) absent or not in Dutch and that in 27% (16 units) the release of nitrosamines and nitrosatable substances were higher than the legal limit. All balloons and packaging supplied by Wisa Enschede have met these standards for years
